Sweet Salt / Sale Dolce
HOW MIGHT I: interpret an interpretation? Sweet Salt/Sale Dolce is a collaboration between artist Amy Hauft and writer Carol Mavor, in which Mavor responded to the sculptural installation of Hauft in the form of a fantastical short story. Imagery and narrative influenced my design, which incorporated a combination of letterpress and digital printing. The outside cover showcases opposing front and rear views of the central sculpture in the installation, while the interior cover displays a video still from a projection in the exhibition. Installation and short story both contained imagery of the ocean, so I illustrated tiny sea creatures act as annotation punctuation. Hand-printed and bound with digitally-printed interior; limited run of 250.
